Choir

The AHS choir program usually fields two choirs, Chamber Choir and Concert Choir. Occasionally a show choir is also offered. The choir program, under the direction of Betsy Bishop, is tightly integrated with the theater program's musicals.

The program has a long tradition of producing outstanding vocalists, as witnessed by the many professional and semi-pro vocalists who came out of the program during the long tenure of beloved choir director Russ Otte, who died in 2022. Mr. Otte's tradition of excellence lives on in a scholarship program he set up with his wife Rose. The Russ and Rose Otte scholarship and the Russ Otte Young Artist Endowments are managed by the Oregon Community Foundation and help provide scholarships to Ashland High School musicians every year.
